It was a dark and stormy night.

It was a dark and stormy night. Quite a few people couldn’t make it, but there were enough of us left to tell dark, unsettling, Hallowe’en-esque stories about cycles of violence: serial killers with damaged frontal lobes, children locked out of their houses to roam the streets until their parents came home from the pub, and various Bad Parenting models (and we all agreed that blaming single mothers was not the answer to this). We also thought that meeting violence with violence wasn’t always the answer either, and that the Police Community Support Officers sometimes have a better approach and can head off trouble before it starts with a few well-chosen words.

Next time, please can we talk about kittens and rainbows for a bit, just to balance things out? Just kidding…
